Online education on the Forest based Bioeconomy: How to move from “less bad” to “right” measures?

Online education on the Forest based Bioeconomy: How to move from “less bad” to “right” measures? A team of forestry experts from Austria, Croatia and Slovenia has prepared an online training on the forest based bioeconomy, which was tested for the first time in March and April 2021 in all three countries.

The training was prepared within the Erasmus + project VET4BioECONOMY, which started in September 2018 and is ending in August 2021. In Slovenia, the Slovenia Forest Service and the Slovenian Forestry Institute have participated in the project.

Despite the importance of the bioeconomy at EU level, the topic is not yet sufficiently present in vocational education and training and lifelong learning programs. We tried to cover this gap with the VET4BioECONOMY educational program for the field of forest based bioeconomy.

The pilot online training in Slovenia was successfully completed by 11 participants from various forestry-related institutions: the Slovenia Forest Service, the Slovenian Forestry Institute, Cyprus Slovenia, Pro Silve Slovenia, the Secondary School of Wood and Forestry Maribor, the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning. Among them was also the owner of forest. The education is freely accessible and is intended for all those who are interested in the topic and would like to improve their knowledge in the field of forest based bioeconomy.
